SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,414. dated October 23, 1900. Application filed August l0. 1900. Serial No. 26,530. Term of patent 3l yearsV To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE D. MERRILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Orange, county of Essex, State of New Jersey, have invented and produced acertain new and useful Design for a Spoon or Similar Article; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the saine.
This invention relates to a new and usei'ul design for a spoon or similar article.
The object of my invention is to provide a spoon with certain peculiar distinguishing features of design, which are so combined as to impart a strikingly novel and artistic effect to the article as an entirety.
The accompanying drawing shows the article of manufacturein elevation, dotted lines indicating a spoon-bowl and fork-tines.
The straight stem a has the spoon-bowl at one end and a laterally-projecting head nl at its opposite outer end. A short outer portion d of said stem adjacent to said head d tapers longil udinall)` of the stem and toward the inner end thereof, carrying the bowl, and is formed with a continuous closely spirally ribbed surface.` A short inner portion b of said stem tapers or is gradually reduced from the spoon-bowl longitudinally of the stem, toward the outer end thereof, and is encircled by a. spiral groove c, extending longitudinally throughout the length of said tapered portion b.
