DESIGN FOR ORIENTAL CARPET.

Application filed April 20, 1900. Serial No. 13,665. Term of patent '7 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HOVOEP SARAFIAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Titusville, in the county of Crawford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Oriental Carpet, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which the figure is a face View of an oriental carpet, showing my design.

The leading feature of the design consists in the design forming the subject-matter of the accompanying illustration.

The design in its entirety consists of a background A in contrast to a configuration simulating basket-work, and consisting, essen= tially,of outer parallel straight border-stitches B,betwcen which appear alternately-arranged short branch stitches B. The short contrasting stitches are comparatively short with respect to their width, which in connection with the border-stitches B, which are straight and parallel, as before described, operates to give the carpet a distinctive appearance.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for an oriental carpet, as herein shown and described.
