DESIGN FOR A PLATE OR PANE OF GLASS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,765, dated October 31, 1899.
Application filed September 8, 1897. Serial No. 660,989. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOSEPH LOCKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baldwin township,iu thecountyof Alleghenyand State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Panes orPlates of Glass; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the o art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to designs for plates or panes of glass; and it consists of a plate or pane havinga flat edge extending-com- [5 pletely around the border of the plate or pane and having within the flat edge a raised figure, octagonal in outline, with inclined sides and a rectangular center, the said raised figure being in relief on one side and intaglio on the other-that is to say, one side of the raised figure is elevated above the surface of the flat edge on one side of the plate and depressed within the surface of the flat edge on the other side of the plate.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan View of the plate or pane embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same.
A designates the fiat edge of the plate,which as shown, extends around on all sides of the plate outside of the central figure. The central figure is in outline an irregular octagon having four long and four short sides, the longer sides being lettered B B B and the shorter sides 0 C C. The sides of the raised central figure are inclined, as shown, and the four longer sides B B 13, meeting at their innor edges,forn1 a Hat central tablet E, while the shorter inclined sides 0 G C are triangular.
Having described my design, I clai1n The design for a plate or pane of glass substantially as shown and described.
