(Application fllod. Jun. 21, 1899.)
WW'%ESSES. LN'VEgOR.
w Attorney UNITED STATES \V I LLIAM ALLEN PENDRY,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF DETROIT, MICI Ilt iAN.
DESIGN FOR A GRINDING-WHEEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,283, dated February 28, 1899.
Application filed January 21, 1899. Serial No. 702,993. Term of patent 7 years.
design. Fig. 2 is a view from one end thereof. Fig. 3 is a view from the opposite end of the same.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my design consist of a grindingwheel A, of cylindrical form, of greater diameter intermediate the ends than toward the ends thereof, the longitudinal outline of the wheel narrowing from near the longitudinal center thereof toward the extremities thereof, said outline narrowing more toward one extremity than toward the opposite extremity, the outline at one end thereof being thus longitudinally reduced toward the longitudinal center of the wheel more than the longitudinal outline of the opposite end of the wheel, the longitudinal outline of one end of the wheel (indicated at A) beingcurved or hollowed from a point intermediate the ends of the wheel, as from the point a to the point a. From said intermediate point (1' the longitudinal outline of the wheel is shown cut away or reduced toward the opposite extremity, as indicated on the line from a to a, leaving a grinding end of the wheel, as the end A, extending from the point a to the point a of enlarged outline over that of the opposite or non-grinding end of the wheel A", as indicated on the line from a to (L or, in other words, the longitudinal outline of the end A being so reduced that the end A of the Wheel has its periphery of narrower diameter at all points in cross-section than crossseetions at equal points from the center on the end A of the wheel.
It is apparent that agrinding-wheel of this design has the outline from the longitudinal center on the non-grinding end thereof reduced from the corresponding outline of the opposite end or grinding-surface of the wheel.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a grinding-wheel, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
