UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK W. BEBERDICK, OF WVEST HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A COAT-PATTERN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,217, dated February 14, 1899.
Application filed November 8, 1898. Serial No. 695,902. Term of patent 14 years.
Z'o all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK W. BEBERDIOK, a citizen of the United States, residing at West Hoboken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Coat-Pattern, of which the following is a specification, ref* erence being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing represents in plan view a pattern of one side and half of the back of the coat, showing my new design, and it will be understood that the otherside and half of the back are the same.
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the part A, forming one side and half the front, and the part B, forming half of the back, and in the particular shape or contour given to the upper edge or ends of these parts. From the point a the edge of the part A is slightly inwardly curved and then outwardly and upwardly to the point a. The upper portion of the partA is cut away to form part of the neck-opening, said part of said opening being represented by the downwardly and upwardly curved line 0?, extending to the point a from which last-named point the compound-curved line a extends to the point a The point or is located below the point a and is substantially on the same horizontal plane as the point a. The compound-curved line a represents the shoulder line or seam. The edge of the upper portion of the part A extends downwardly and inwardly from the point 0, in a curve deviating only slightly from a straight line to the point a, from which point the said edge is curved in a small semicircle to the point (1 From the point a the edge extends vertically downward in a straight line to the point a from which point the edge extends in a direction slightly inclined to the horizontal to the point 019, from which point the edge extends in a horizontal straight line to the point a From the point a the edge extends in a horizontal straight line to the point 6 forming the straight hori zontal line a The edge deviates from the point a to a away from the line a forming the angular space S From the point e the edge extends in a horizontal straight line to the point e coinciding with the line a. From the point e the edge extends upwardly to the point e. The point e is located slightly below the horizontal plane of the point a and is separated slightly from said point of. The point a contacts against the edge between the points 0 and 6', adjacent to the point e, forming a vertically-arranged angular space S. From the point e the edge extends in an upward curve to the point 6 From the point e the edge extends downwardly and is slightly curved outwardly and then inwardly to the point 6 from which point the said edge extends downwardly in a straight line to the bottom of the garment.
The outer edge of the part B extends in a straight line b from its extreme upper point 12 to the extreme lower point 11 The inner edge of the part B extends in a straight line from the bottom thereof to the point 6 coinciding with the corresponding part of the part A. From the point e the edge of the part B extends upwardly and is slightly curved outwardly and then inwardly until it meets the point e of the part A at the point I), thus forming a double curved opening S, tapering to a meeting-point at the upper and lower ends thereof. From the point b the edge of the part B extends upwardly, curving first inwardly and then extending in an inclined substantially straight line to the point I), which is opposite but slightly below the point a of the part A and separated therefrom by anarrow space Z). From the point I) the edge of the part B extends upwardly in a straight but sharply-inclined line to the point b thus giving the shape of an obtuse angle to the point I). The upper edge of the part B extends from the point I) in a downward curve to the point Z2 which pointis located slightly below the point b but on the same horizontal plane as the point a of the part A.
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for a coat-pattern as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 29th day of October, 1898.
FRANK W. BEBERDICK.
