UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
XVILLIAM B. JACOBS, OF NEYV YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A GLASS OR LIGHT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,000, dated January 10, 1899.
Application filed December 17, 1398. Serial No. 699.605. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whont it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. JACOBS, of the borough of Brooklyn, New York city, in the State of New York, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Glass or Light; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective View of a glass or light embodying my design, and Fig. 2 a crosssection of the same.
Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures.
The object of my invention is to providea design for a glass or light for illuminating gratings; and to this end said invention consists in the design for a glass or light substantially as hereinafter set forth.
The leading feature of my design consists of parallel ribs on the glass or light, each of which has a generally triangular form in cross-section, the sides of the triangle being formed of alternating curved and angular su rfaccs.
The glass is in the form of a rectangular plate A, having a series of parallel ribs Band B, that are generally triangular in cross-section and alternate with smaller ribs C and C, that transversely have each a curved surface. The apex of each rib Bis curved, and the surface on each side near the base of the rib is curved, and between the latter and the apex there is an angular formation, so that each side of the rib is formed of alternating curved and angular surfaces.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is The design for a glass or light, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 30th day of September, 1898.
WILLIAM B. JACOBS.
