JAMES FRANK GRANT, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, ASSIGNOR TO THE SOVEREIGN GRAND LODGE OF TIIE INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS, OF MARYLAND.

DESIGN FOR AN OFFICIAL CERTIFICATE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,782, dated June 7, 1898.

Application filed March 13, 1898. Serial No. 674,387. Term of patent 14 years.

To aZZ- whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J AMEs FRANK GRANT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Official Certificate, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents the front of the certificate, and Fig. 2 represents the back of the same.

The leading feature of my design consists in the representation of the All-Seeing Eye in a blaze of light in the central portion of an ornamental rectangular frame or border, said frame or border having ornamental corners containing circular fields or figures with emblems therein. The field or figure at the upper left-hand corner of the border or frame represents an oflicial seal. The field or figure at the upper right-hand corner contains a rep resentation of a heart on an open hand. The

field or figure at the lower right-hand corner contains a representation of two tables or tablets, and the field or figure at the lower left hand corner contains a representation of balanced scales. Just under the All-Seeing Eye is a representation of three links, the central one of which contains a representation of an open book, the left-hand link containing the letters I. 0., and the right-hand link the letters O. F.

The back or reverse of the certificate consists of an ornamental rectangular frame or border in the four corners of Which are starshaped figures.

I claim- The design for an ofiicial certificate substantially as herein shown and described.
