Ilillll UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EUGENE J. SULLIVAN, OF RIVER FUIIIIS", ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR T0 'lIIll BROIVN IROS. MANUI AG"URING COMPANY, OF UIIICUH'), ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A LENS FOR SKYLIGHTS, 80c.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,402, dated July 20, 1897.
A lication fil d March 13, 1897. Serial No. 627,433. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EUGENE J. SULLIVAN, aeitizen of the United States, residing in the village of River Forest, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Glass Tile or Lens for Sidewalks, Skylights, and the Like, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw ings, forming a part thereof.
In said drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a lens embodying my design. l igs. 2 and 3 are side elevation and bottom plan views, respectively. Figs. -t and 5 are rear and front elevations, respectively.
A lens embodying my design embraces an upper hexagonal-shaped body portion having at its lower end a right-angled triangularshaped lcg,the perpendicularsurface of which formsthe front of said leg and thehypotcnuse of which forms the rear surface thereof. The body portion is provided between its upper surface and said leg with an outwardly-extending hexagonal-shaped flange which ontirely surrounds the same. The perpendicular surface of the leg does not extend to the extreme front of the top or body portion, but is terminated vertically below the angles formed by the intersection of the front surface of the hexagonal-shaped body with the side surface thereof and extends approximately at a right angle to the adjacent lower frontsurfaee of the body portion. Said edges of the depending leg are formed at right angles to the front or perpendicular edge thereof. The rear face of the leg is formed by three plane surfaces, each on a different angle with respect to the front face of the leg. The middle surface thereof extends the full width of the leg at the bottom and the lines forming the sides of the same converge upwardly and intersect with the angle between the two rear surfaces of the hexagonalshaped body portion. The two side surfaces are bounded on their inner sides by said upwardly-eonverging lines and extend at their outer sides to the extreme side edges of the latter.
I claim as my design The design for a lens for skylights or the like, substz'tntially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claiin the foregoing as my invention I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
RUG iXE J. SULLIVAN. \Vitnesses:
