DESIGN FOR AN ARC-LAM P.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,471, dated December 29, 1896.
Applicati fil d November 27,1896. Serial No. 613,695. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. UARTHAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lynn, in the county of Essex, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and original Design for ElectricArc Lamps, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying drawing shows an electric-are lamp illustrating the invention.
The leading feature oi the design is an enlarged top portion connected by a narrow neck with the main body of the lamp.
A indicates the main body of the lamp, of the usualcylindrical form, having the ribbed spreading flanged portion B at its lowercnd, from which depends the globe C of the lamp.
D indicates the top portion of the lamp, which is shown as cylindrical and enlarged and connected by a narrow neck E with the main cylindrical body portion A. The narrow neck E, as here shown, is of a mortarshape form; that is, having a circular top and bottom F and a curved connecting portion G, forming the waist of the neck. This neck portion E, while shown as shortin length,
maybe of any length desired. The enlarged portion i) and the main body portion A may be provided with ornamental bands I], asingle ornamental band ll encircling the top portion and a pair of ornamental bands ll encircling the main body portion A, and, if desired, a ribbed bead-like portion or enlargement I may encircle the main body portion A centrally between the ends thcreol.
The design, however, is not limited to the [ntrticnlar ornamentation and configuration set forth, the essential feature thereof being an enlarged top portion and a narrow curred neck connecting the top portion with the main body portion of the lamp.
\Vhat I claim is The design for an elect ric-arc lamp, as herein shown and described.
