TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, JAMES F. MARKLAND, of Newark, in the county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented a`new and improved Design for a. Buckle; and I do hereby declare that the following is a fulll clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to understand the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

This invention relates to a design for a buckle, intended more especially for use upon harnesses, which design consists in ornamcnting the side and end bars of a centre-bar square buckle-frame, so called and known, in imitation of the twist of the strands of a rope or cord. In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a plan view of a buckle of my improved design; and

Figure 2, a longitudinal section taken in the planevof the line x 2:, fig. 1.

A represents the frame of a buckle, which frame is madeof a. square or rectangular shape, with a centre cross-bar, B, to and on which is hung a tongue, C. D and E respectively the side and end bars of the buckleframe, which bars are ornamented as plainly shown in the drawings. l

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- '.lhe design for a buckle, as shown and described.
