lie it known that I, HENRY O. SCHMIDT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a l errnle, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figures 1 and E. are side elevations of a ferrule for cutlery-handles, showing my design. Fig. 3 is an end View thereof.

The ferrule is of an oval form in cross-seetion or end view and is ornamented by a plain narrow bead near each end and two intermediate bands of scroll leaflets.

The plain narrow heads 4 are arranged at a short distance from each end of the ferrule. as shown. Upon the open field orplain ground between these heads I there are two other bands 5 at equal distances from the longitudinal middle of the ferrule, said bands being composed of curved leaflets abutting against each oth'er, as shown. These bands are placed somewhat nearer to the beads 4 than they are to each other, thus leaving a wide open field at the middle portion.
