The base consists of a narrow ilangc merging into the inclined side, and the latter terminates at the top with a raised margin or bead which in turn incloses a depressed panel, forming the top of the case or strike. The front of both the case and the strike is vertical, not inclined, and I prefer io make the upper edge of this front with a flat curve or arch, as shown. Finally, I provide at the rear of the case and of the strike a boss or ear projcctinglgieyond the marginal flange of the base and adapted to receive a screw.

Fig. H is a side View of the saine. Fig. III is an end View thereof.
My design consists essentially of a lock having sides slightly inclined from the hase to the 15 top, with a narrow marginal rini or Tiange eX- tending along the two sides and rear at the bottoni and a raised margin or head on the top, inelosing a depressed panel.
The drawings clearly show my design, in 2o which are seen a lock-case and a corresponding strike or keeper. The sides and rear ends of both are slightly inclined from the hase to HENRY Ri. TOWNE. iVitnesses:
