LEBBEUS HILL, OF LYNN, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A SHOE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,666, dated September v10, 1895. Application filed August 5, 1895. Serial No. 558,380- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEBBEUS HILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lynn, county of Essex, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and original Design for Boots or Shoes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing is a perspective view of a shoe, showing my design.
The leading feature of my design comprises a peculiarly-shaped pattern or panel in the side of the shoe, which panel is shaped atits front edge to .presenta cu rved lineconforming, approximately, to the curved front or vertical instep-line ot the shoe, and at its rear edge shaped to present two curved lines or arcs of a curvature opposite that at the front edge and meeting in an apex in the vicinity of the heel and opposite some point intermediate the ends of the line at the front edge of the gore.
Referring to the drawing, the shoeA has its side pattern or panelB shaped, in accordance with this invention, to present at its front edge a curved line a, conforming, approximately, to the curvature of the vertical or instep line a at the front of the shoe, and at its rear edge to present two curved lines or arcs a a of a curvature opposite that of the front line or edge a, the curved lines a a at the rear edge meeting in an apex at a in the vicinity of the heel of the shoe and opposite some point, as 5, which is intermediate the ends of the front curved line a, so that the widest part of the panel lies between the instep and heel of the shoe, as shown. The top and bottom edges or lines a a of the panel are straight or slightly curved, as shown.
