DESIGN.
0. A. BROWN. UNDERGARMENT.
Patented Apr. 16, 1895.
l Qmmeoo 04 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES A. BROXVN, OF TROY, NElV YORK.
DESIGN FOR AN UNDERGARMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,217, dated April 16, 1895.
Application tiled December 29, 1894. Serial No. 533,356. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Troy, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Undergarments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, showing in a single figure the upper portion of an nndergarment, embodying my new and original design, laid out flat, with the shoulder-flaps drawn up from the bosom-flap to show the outline of the several flaps.
The undergarment comprises the body p0rtion A-, the shoulder-flaps 13-, B' on opposite sides of the neck-opening B and the bosom-flap 0-. The edge of the bosom-flap forms a continuous curved outline extending from a point at or near the lower side of one arm-opening D- upwardly and transversely of the body front to the neck-opening, and thence downwardly and transversely of the body front to a point at or near the lower side of the other arm-opening D. This curved or arched line is approximately parallel with the upper outline of the shoulders and adjacent arm portions and, by its relations to such outline and to the neck opening itpresents a pleasing effect. This is enhanced by the closed portion of the garment immediately under the arch and neck opening and extend iug to the sides under the arm pits whereby suggestion of exposure of the bosom to view or to the air is avoided. The edges of the flaps are provided with stud or button holes II.
The essential feature of the design is an uudergarment provided with a bosom flap and opening, situated in front of and below a neck opening and having a continuous curved outline extending to near the lower part of the junction of the arms and body, said flap and neck openings being continuous.
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for an undergarment herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 27th day of December, 1894.
