To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JOHN MATTHEWS, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residingat Bridgenortb, in the county of Salop, England, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of the same, and which is suiicient to enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention.

My design consists, [i1-st, of a body A, ornamented by two ornamental figures, on a clouded ground as shown in the drawing; second, of a border B, consisting of a solid color top margin, two ornamental figures, and a narrow ornamental cross-stripe, composed of squares and diamonds, the whole on a clouded JOHN MATTHEWS.
