DESIGN FOR A SEWING-MACHINE FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,813, dated November 13, 1894.
Application filed July 12,1894. Serial No. 517,364. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, LORENZ MU'THER, residing at Oak Park, in the county of Cook, Rnssnr. G. WooDwARD, residing at W'au kegan, in the county of Lake, and ELIAS C. HOLLAND, residing at Austin, in the county of look, State of Illinois, citizens of the United States, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Sewing-Machine Frames, of which the following is a description, referencebeing had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Our invention relates to a new and original design for sewing machine frames.
The same is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which the figure represents a perspective view ofa sewing machine frame embodying the design.
Referring to the drawings the base of the frame is shown at A. This is of rectangular shape, approximately square. Rising from the bottom part A and set in from the edge thereof is the standard B extending perpendicularly to the bottom part. This perpendicular part B is provided with a horizontally projecting rectangular part 0 at right angles to B and having a lug a. The front face of the part B has a raised rectangular portion 2) and extending on twardly from this is the bed plate E. This is enlarged at its rear end, the top portion 0 being approximately fiat, but tapering downwardly to the point cl, as well as narrowing toward said point. The under portion 2 has a contracted lower part or bulge 3 5 f, but tapers upwardly and narrows to the point d. From said point d to the end, the bed plate is cylindrical in shape. Rising up ward from the part B is the goose neck or arm D. Its under surface is formed on a convex curve G to the point 9 when it is formed in a compound curve h h to the lower end of the head or web If. The upper edge of the neck is formed on a similar curve I to the point i in the line with the point g, the vet tical thickness of the arm gradually decreasing to the points 9 i when the same enlarges into the web II. The base of the goose neck is enlarged and tapers slightly downward as shown at K, and the thickness of the body portion is of the neck is less than the thickness of the upperand lower curves, thus forming a flange L along the lower edge of the neck, following the curve G, g, h h but gradually diminishing in horizontal thickness from the base to point h. The upper edge is formed with a flange M following the curve I to the point I when it is curved downward and extends part way across the face of the neck, terminating in the flat portion m.
The web H or head of the machine is provided with the lugs m, n, o, the lug m ex tending outwardly in a horizontal plane from the top of the web H and oblique thereto, the lug n, extending in a straight plane at right angles to the web toward the front of the ma chine and the lug 0 at right angles to the web H but sidewise thereof.
Havingthus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,is
The design for a sewing machine frame substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof we affixonrsignatnres in presence of two witnesses.
LORENZ MUTHER. RUSSEL G. VVOODW'ARD. ELIAS C. HOLLAND. Witnesses:
