Be it known that I, GEORGE HENRY WILD- SMITH, asubjeet of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Leeds, in the county of York, England, have invented a certain new and original Design for Game-Boards; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
In the accompanying drawing my said design is illustrated.
The leading features of said design consist in a surface of approximately rectangular outline having openings A arranged at intervals in the same and raised portions 13 of the surface alternating therewith. These raised surfaces have round or scalloped outlines. Other raised surfaces 0 C D D are arranged as borders in pairs at the top and bottom, re spectively, of the design leaving in the middle of the top and the middle of the bottom an opening between the members of each pair, where the ordinary surface appears. The various openings A above mentioned are indicated by difierent numerals marked on the surface above them and representations of animal figures are marked or printed on the surface below them. Thus as shown under the upper left hand opening is the figure E of a lion; under the upper right hand one is the figure F of an elephant; under the next lower left hand opening the figure G of a Wolf; under the next lower right hand opening the figure II of a bear; in proximity to the next two lower holes are the figures I of crocodiles with the water J and marsh vegetation K of their habitat; undcrthe two next lower openings are the figures of a buffalo L and a lion M; and undcrthe lowesttwo openings A are the figures of a snake N and a fox 0. Figures 1 of trees and other vegetation are arranged at several points on the main surface, and the raised surfaces aforesaid are colored green and mottled to givetheappearanee of vegetation.
