DESIGN FOR A PICTURE-FRAME, 80C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,977, dated December 19, 1893. Application filed November 13| 1893 Serial No. 490,844. Term of' patent 3% years.
.To @ZZ whom it may concer/t.-
Be it known that l, ROBERT GOLDE, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Pictureli`ra|nes andthe Like, of which the following isaspeoiiication, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing shows a plan view of my design adapted for picture frames, plaeques and the like, one half (the upper) showing the outline plus the surface ornamentation, the other half (the lower) showing the outline or configuration.
My design consists in a border comprising the bars 1 having a configuration and surface ornamentation simulating the branch of a tree with the bark thereon the ends 2 of which are crooked the opposite end having the reverse curve 3, the crook 2 running into the first curve of the ends 3, each opposite end of the bars 1 overlapping the other as at 4. Extending froin the crooks 2 are leaves, simulating oak leaves, as at 5, which extend the length of the crooks 2 to that of the ends 3, making the border lines formed of the bars 1 and leaves 5 well balanced to the eye. From the ends 3 extend inwardly a leal. and spring 6 both following the general direction of such ends; and between the ends 3 and crooks 2 at the top right and lower left hand corners extend a bunch simulating grapes or berries, which bunch also merges into the leaves 5 at those corners. From the bars l between the corners extend outwardly separate groups of overlapping leaves 8, the upper group having an additional leaf il to make a crowning et'- fect to the upper part of the frame, and between the said leaves and on the bars are dispersed groups 10, of grapes, the., and entwined. about the bars at the corners and between them, are twists of a vine as at 11.
My design therefore consists of the three essential elements which are so combined as to present to the eye the combined effect of the oak branches, leaves, with an ntertwisted creeping and fruiting vine.
Having thus described my design, I claim- The design for picture frames, and the like, substantially as herein shown and described.
Signed at the city, county, and State of New York this 11th day of November, 1893.
ROBERT GOLPE.
