PATENT OFFICE.
Uh LUI'IS, MISSOURI.
DE SIGN FOR A FRAME FOR ELECTRIC MOTORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,277, dated March 7, 1893.
Application filed August 30. 1892- Serial No. 444,579 Term of patent 7 years,
To all whom it may concern:
lie it known thatI, Apuxltxnnu W. M lcs'ron, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis,in the State of Missouri, have invented aml produced a new and original Design for a Frame for Electric t\[otors,of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, wherein the figure represented is a View in side elevation of my original design.
The design consists, essentially, in a cylindrieally shaped casing for electric motors mounted upon a tripod base, as is shown.
In the drawing, A indicates the cylindrical shaped motor casing, or body portion, and (1., bands or beads on the ends of the same. Near the outer edge of the flat faces of the ends, are convexed heads I) in the form of a quadrant, which beads terminate in a step c and a concavo bead d. Projecting from the bead it is a converging portion 6 whose outer converging endsfare curved gently inward, until the curve meets the flat face, which face is interrupted byaconcavo bead g concentric therewith. Toward the center of the [lat face of the projecting portion e, the frame is again curved gently outward to form the step h, when from said steps, projects the parallel sides of centrally located hubs, which have flat end faces and beveled corners, as shown.
All the parts before mcntioned, are circular and arranged concentric with each other, and the shape of each end of the framo,is substantially the same. The base upon which this cylindl ically shaped frame is mounted, is what is known as a tripod, that is, the bottom portion i is hemispherical in shape, aud has pro- ,jccti ng therefrom, three lcgs j j, &c., rounded on their uppersides, ztnd terminating in semielliptieally shaped feet, It", Ir, &c., these logs being e uidistantly placed and radially disposed around the rounded surface of the hemispherically shaped base. Extending from the top of his base, isa tapering column orstandard 1;, the top of which termiuatesiu a quirk molding from which extends a cap under the cylindrical body portion of the motor frame.
What I claim is The design fora motor frame, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I at'tix my signature, in presence of two witnesses, this 18th day of August, 1893.
ALEXANDER W. MESION.
