HENRY DlLLlNGI-IAM, OF CHELSEA, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A TOY SAVINGS-BANK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,232, dated February 21, 1893.
Application filed October 28, 1892. Serial No. 450,287. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY DILLINGHAM, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the city of Chelsea, in the county of Suffolk and the State of Massachusetts, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Design for a Toy Savings-Bank, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This design has for its object to provide a novel and ornamental toy savings bank which presents a characteristic and distinguishing appearance to the eye, and it consists in a toy savings bank having at one end a flattened surface of trapezoidal form, at the opposite end a flattened surface substantially in the form of an isosceles triangle, a recess or depression between said flattened end portions, and lateral faces swelled outwardly from the apex of one flattened surface to the outer extremity of the other flattened surface.
The design is illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view of the savings-bank.
The reference letters A and B in said drawing indicate, respectively, the opposite ends of the body portion of the savings -bank. The extremity A is flat upon its upper surface, and of substantially trapezoidal form, with a slight inclination toward the middle portion of the savings-bank. The opposite extremity B is also flat upon its upper inclined surface, and said surface has substantially the form of an isosceles triangle, the base being parallel with the adjacent end of the trapezoidal surface A and the two equal sides having a slight outward curvature, or convexity. Between the two surfaces Aand B, is a recess, or depression 0, in which is the representation of a door I. Upon each side of this door the surface of the depression is curved gently upward at H, H, and meets the parallel sides of the flat surfaces A and B. The end portion A is terminated bya nearly vertical and rectangular face D from the lower side of which the end is curved approximately upon an ogee line thereby giving an overhang to the end A. The opposite lateral faces F and G are swelled from the apex E of the triangular face B to a point about midway of the ends, whence they converge somewhat and terminate at the extremity D. From the apex E of the triangular surface B, the body is curved upon a line lying substantially in the vertical, longitudinal and central plane of the body of the bank, and from this line, which is curved downward and under the overhanging end B, the two lateral surfaces sweep outwardly or diverge, upon both sides, forming greatly convexed faces.
What I claim is- The design for a toy savings-bank, substantialls as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY DILLINGHAM.
