RUDOLPH GNIOHWITZ, OE ASHBOURNE, ASSIGNOR TO THE MATHER MANU- FAO'IURING COMPANY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,148, dated January 24, 1893.
Application led December 12, 1892. Serial No. 454,973. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom t may concern:
| Be it known that I, RUDOLPH GNICHWITZ, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ashbourne, in the county of Montgomery and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and original Design for Printing-Types, of which the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description. l
This design relates to a font of printing types.
The leading features of the design consist of modernized old style characters having the heavy portions or shading produced in outline.
; The accompanying drawing forming part hereof illustrates my design as applied to capitals or upper case, small letters or lower case, punctuation marks, numerals, diphthongs, and the da, and English pound (money) mark, but of course the design also is extensible to include logotypes and other characters usually composing a complete font of printing types. As already indicated, the characters are produced in old style, modernized, or conventionalized, and with hair lines, 25 the shading, or what might be characterized as the down-stroke, being composed of double lines, or, as before stated, produced in outline. The terminals of the characters are beveled or made full and in outline as shown. 3o
What I claim is:-
The design for a font of printing types substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 10th day of December, A. D. 35 1892.
RUDOLPH GNIOHWITZ.
