SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,771, dated May 26, 1891. Application filed January 19, 1891. Serial 110,378,360. Term of patent 14 years.

'Ee tknown that I, CHARLES W. immuni), of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and original Design for Axes, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this Specifica tion, in which- Figure 1 is a plan View oi an ax embodying my design. Fig. 2 isa vertical longitudinal section thereof on the line 1I 11 of Fig. 1.

The leading feature of my design consists in an ax-head which back ci' the cutting-edge is made laterally concave toward the butt, and at the middle ci' the ax there isnc longitudinal convex wedge-sl1aped ridge, as conimon in axes of the designs heretofore known. This eencavity extends completely across each side ot the aix-body.

In the drawings, 2 represents the cuttingedge; the eye of the ax-head, the sides of which are concave, as shown in Fig.
