DESIGN FOR A BGTTLE.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 20,581, dated March 10. 1891,
Application filed February 11, 1891. Serial No. 381,088. Term of patent 3% years.
To It who/1t it nun/ mum/nu:
.llc itknown that], Amnum'n ltumxs'rmm,
a citizen of thclfnited States, residing at Uincinnati, in the county oi llnmillon and State 7 of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for lloltlcs,ot which the following is a spet'eitication, rel'erence being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein like letters of reference point out similar parts on each figure, Figure 1 is a plan view of a bottle, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof. Fig.
I) is a transverse sectional view on the line 1' f :r. Fig. 4 is a View of the under surface of the bottom of the bottle, these fou r views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.
The leading feature of my design consists in a bottle the body of which is practically quadrilateral. in cross-section. The sides A are flat; but the respective points of conjunct-ion compose a curve of the eonjoining edges, as seen at a. The upper end of each side is also connected by curves at to the neck-base l which base slopes upwardly from each side A toward a common central point. From this base the neck N extends upwardly, the point of connection of the neck and base composing a circumferential inverted curve a. The tubular neck N, springing upwardly from its base, is notot equal diameter its whole length, but tapers toward the collar 0.
The bottom 1) of the bottle is a plane having a circumferential section d upwardly inverted. The four sides of the bottom D are each curred upwardly where meeting the lower line of each side A, composing at such points of juncture curves (1', similar in contour to the curves (1, at the juxtaposed edges of the sides.
The ncclvbase ii inclines downwardly from f the neck N until meeting the upperendot'the respective sides A, and is also obliquely in elined in direction of each of the four curved edges (I, and lhereat the diverging and convcrging lines meet and compose hemispherical curves. (Indicated in the drawings byai rows.) 7
, The downwardly-inclined surface otthe neck-base diverges forwardly toward one side i A and laterally toward two opposite sides, whereby the upper end oi each of said sides composes a flat arch integral with said neckbase and the main body.
A longitudinal section through any portion of the body will present a flat arch with straight vertical supporting-lines both on inher and outer surfaces, and a transverse section presents a quadrangle the corners of which are curved, the inner and outer surfaces being in parallel alignment.
It will be understood by the foregoing description and the drawings in illustration thereof that every pointof connection of the four sides of the body where they meet and where theirlowcr ends eonjoin the bottom, as well as where they connect with the neckbase, is curved or rounded, as shown at a a" d, and that the neck uprising from its base has an inVcrtedly-curved connection thereto, as seen at n, and that although the main chamber is practically quadrangular none of the meeting-points of any of the sections thereof compose angles.
I claim- A bottle having the eonfigurative contour as illustrated and described.
