DESIGN FOR A ILAINFIELI), NlfilV JERSEY.
ROOFING-TILE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,888, dated June 10, 1890.
Application filed May 14, 1890- Serial No. 351,814. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
ie it known that I, GEoRoE ll. lhuscoon, a citizen of the United States, residing at llainfield, in the county of lfnion and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Roofing or Sheathing Tiles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
My design relates to the architectural ornamentation of clay or other tiles by raised figures on the exposed faces thereof; and said design consists of a conventional plant-like figure having a series of vertical stems rising from a base and terminating in divergent recurved leaves.
The drawing illustrates my design as applied to a tile having a semi-octagonal eontour at its lower portion; but the said design is applicable to various forms of tiles.
A represents the plane surface of the tile, above which the figure 15 is raised.
(L is the base of the figure at or near the lower extremity of the tile, and 11 represents the raised stems, which are vertical and parallel, or nearly so, at their lower part, and which extend upward in divergent curves 0, merging into the bulbulous leaves (I, the majority of which are reeurved, as at e, at their termination.
What I claim is The design herein shown and described for ornamenting roofing-tile, consisting in a raised figure 0n the surface thereof composed of a series of vertical stems projecting from a base and expanding in diverging curves terminating in recurved leaves.
