D7451 0P D 179400 DESIGN.
E. R. OAHOONE.
BRIDLE FRONT. No. 17,400. Patented June 21, 1887.
v Z BY mam/Q? ATTY'S.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWIN R. CAHdONE, OF NEWARK, NElV JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A BRlDLE-FRONT.
SPECIFICATION forming part'oi Design No. 17,400, dated June 21,1887.
Application filed May 13, 1887. Serial No. 238,144. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWIN R. CAHOONE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original. Design for BridleFronts; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification In said drawings, Figures 1 and 2 are front views of a bridle-front embracing my design, the latter showing a slight variation in the relation of parts. Fig. 3 is a plan of the said bridle-front. Fig. 4 is a section through line a: of Fig. 2, and Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken through line Y of Fig. 1.
Theleading feature of the design consists in abridle-front,which comprises the bridle front with ribs b b at its upper and lower edges, between which are displayed ornamental spirals extending transversely across the recess from one rib to the other and displaying beneath the exposed parts of the spirals a straplike band.
In said drawings, a indicates a bridle-front with longitudinal ribs b b extending along the upper and lower edges of the same, between which is a longitudinal recess, a.
d is an ornamental spiral wire displayed within said recess along the front face of the bridle-front. The exposed portions of the individual spirals of the said wire lie a little apart, parallel with one another, extending transversely across the recess from one rib to the other, and between the same may be seen a strap-shaped band, e, lying near the bottom of the recess, separated away from the said exposed portions. When viewed in transverse sections or endwise the spirals are shown to fill the recess or to extend from the upper rib to the lower one, and to extend or project above or beyond the edges of the said ribs, the bridle-front thus being curved or oval in its general outer or front face eontou r, as indicated in Figs. 4 and 5.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is- The design for a bridle-front, which COlllprises the bridle front with ribs 1) b at its upper and lower edges, between which are ornamental spirals extending transversely across the recess from one rib to the other and dis playing beneath the exposed parts of the spirals a strap-like band, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 10th day of May, 1887.
IJDVVIN R. GAHOONE.
