SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,800, dated March 20, 1883.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VVINTHROP L. JACOBS, of East Orange, Essex county, New Jersey, have invented a. new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustratesa face view of a carpet having my new design.

The ground a is filled in with a system of small leaves with irregular stem-connections, as shown in the photograph. This ground is traversed by irregular runuingstems that bear along their length or on short brauchingstems various irregular and fanciful flower and leaflike figures, symmetrical and otherwise, as is clearly shown in the photograph. Prominent among these are the figures A,B, O, D,E, and F, of various shapes, as shown. The figures 2.
