Description

BEST AVAiLABLE COPY mim UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES W. HUNT, OF WEST NEW BRIGHTON, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR FRAMES FOR SHEAVES OR PULLEY-BLOCKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 12,182, dated March 8, 1881.
Application filed January 27, 1880. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES W. HUNT, a. citizen of the United States, residing at West New Brighton, in the county of Richmond and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Frames for Sheaves or Pulley-Blocks, of which the following is aspecitication, reference being bad to the accom iianying' drawings, forming a part thereof.
The characteristic feature of my design consists in the general appearance given the pulley-block by the relative arrangement to each other of certain prominent parts, A B O D, of said block.
That the features of my design may be more readily comprehended, I shall describe the general distribution of the parts, A B (J D, above alluded to as follows:
The drawing illustrates a perspective view of my newly-designed metal frame for a sheave or pulley-block, composed of corresponding opposite halves, suitably connected and inclosing the sheave. Each of said halves consists of a ring, A, of about the diameter of the sheave, having three arms, C C O, and arequisite portion of the strap D radiating from the center, and in which the braces B start from a horizontal bar at the bottom of the sheaveframe, and terminate in their intersection with the strap at or near the eye E, thus apparently supportingand clasping thefaces of the sheave, all substantially as shown.
The indicated ornamentation of the outer faces of the ring A, arms 0 O O, and braces B, by a relieved beading; or molding, Gr, following their respective contours, is optional, the essential feature of my design being the ovate form given the block by the relative positions of the parts above described.
I claim- The design for a pulley-block, substantially as herein shown and described.
CHARLES YV. HUNT.
