Description

UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
ALBERT H. SHIPMAN, OF ROCHESTER, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR FRAMES OF SCROLL-SAWING MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,988, dated January 21, 1879; application filed December 6, 1878. [Term of patent 3% years] To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, ALBERT H. SHIPMAN, of the city of Rochester, county of Monroe, and State of New York, have invented or produced a new and original Design for the Frames of Scroll-Sawin g Machines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying perspective drawing of the machine.
My design has relation to fancy scroll-sawing machines; and consists in the ornamental form of the frame, as hereinafter shown and described.
A is the double leg formingthe front of the frame. B is the single leg forming the rear, and O is the body.
The front legs are of slight ogee form, being concave at a and convex at b, and having at the top a square offset, c, with plane top and ends, which adds to the ornamental effect, and breaks the monotony of a plain surface. The rear leg, b, is also ot' ogee forni, but having the convex portion g at the bottom, and the concave portion h at the top.
The body O has a straight length, t', between the two legs, and at the rear an ogee, la, projecting beyond the leg, while at the front it has a half-circle, l, which rises above and projects over the front leg, as shown.
The frame of the form above described presents a highly ornamental appearance, and
obviates the rigidity and stiffness ofthe sharp angles which present themselves in ordinary scroll-sawing frames.
On the front leg, near the top, are figures of scroll-Work d d, and on the square offset c are the figures of two holly-leaves, ff, projecting toward cach other. These scrolls and leaves add to the ornamental appearance of the frame.
I claim as newl. The design for the frame of a scrollsawing machine, consisting of the front leg, A, with curved sides a b, and square offset c, the rear leg, B, with the reverse curves g h, and the body C, with its straight length fi, ogee li', and half-circle l, as shown and described.
2. The design of the legA, consisting of the reverse concave and convex curves ay b, and the square offset c, with plane top and ends, at the top, as shown and described.
The design of the body C, consisting of the straight length t', the ogee k at the rear, and the half-circle l in front, as herein shown and described.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
ALBERT H. SHIPMAN.
Witnesses:
