ICE-BAG.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VIRGINIA O. MADIGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful ln'iprovements in Ice-Bags; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in ice bags adapted for use in applying to back of ear of a person and consists of a simple and efiicient device of this nature having various details of construc tion and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the application of the invention to the side of the head and face of a person. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the device. Fig. 3 is a central longitudinal sectional view, and Fig. L is a detail perspective view showing means for holding the tab to a strap or loop upon the ice bag.

filling aperture having a closure C 1s provided whereby ice may be applied to the bag and fastened to one face of the latter upon either side of the central filling opening are the straps D, D and E, E respectively, arranged parallel with the lower edge of the bag, and transversely disposed straps F are fastened at locations designated by letters F where the straps are stitched to the bag or otherwise fastened thereto, forming a series of loops H through which the ends of the straps K pass. Said straps K have glove fastener socket and lugs O, forming means whereby the end of each strap K may be bent upon itself and fastened in the manner shown clearly in Fig. 2 of the drawings. or strap Q which is adapted to be passed through one of the loops H at the opposite end of the bag from that to which the three straps K are fastened and after said band or strap has been passed about the head of a person as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.

A series of alternately arranged lugs S and socket members S are arranged upon the strap Q and designed to fasten the strap Q in an adjusted relation.

In the drawings I have shown flaps, designated by letter T, which are fastened to the tabs T which are passed through the loops D upon one side of the center of the bag and the ends of said tabs are brought together and secured by any suitable means, such as safety pins as illustrated in the detailed view (Fig. 4) of the drawings.

In the application of the invention, the bag is filled with the cooling agent, such as ice or liquid of any kind, and applied to the part of the face or head where it is desired to reduce the fever or inflammation of an afiected part and the chamois pads may be placed to protect the cheek and chin. The straps are then adjusted to hold the bag in place in the manner shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
