COMBINATION GARMENT AND HOSE SUPPORTER.
essme.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMMA C. DURLAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Garment and Hose Supporters; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to combination garment and hose supporters and more particularly to a device of that class for childrens use.
It is the principal object of my invention to provide a device whereby a childs hose and undergarments may be properly .supported without binding against the childs body and without interfering with the free movement of its limbs.
A further object is to provide means in combination with the hose and drawers supporting parts for supporting a boys trousers.
A further object is to provide the improved details of structure which will pres ently be fully described and pointed out in the claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure I is a view, in front elevation, of a combination garment and hose supporter constructed according to my invention. Fig. II is an enlarged edge view of that portion of one of the shoulder straps which extends below the breast strap.
Referring more in detail to the parts 1 designates the shoulder straps which are adapted to be supported on the shoulders of the wearer and to extend downwardly, at both the front and back, to position for attachment to the hose. The straps are preferably crossed at the back, as shown, and have the lower looped portions 2, which are adjustable through the medium of the buckles 3. Slidably mounted on the looped portions 2 are the hose clasps 1, which may be of any ordinary construction.
5 designates a strap which is fixed permanently to the front sections of the straps l Specification of Letters Patent.

and connects same at the breast portion to prevent their slipping from the shoulders.
Fixed permanently to the back section of each strap 1, at the waist position, is a strap 6 which extends around to the front, passing slidably between the front section of the other shoulder strap and a flap 7, which is fixed thereto in a manner to provide a horizontal slot. The front end'of one of the straps 6 is provided with a button 8 and the other with a button hole 9 in order that the straps may be united to form a waist band.
Fixed. to the straps 1, at the back and preferably at the crossing point, are the suspender tabs 10, and adjustably attached to the front sections of the straps 1, above the waist band, are the suspender tabs 11.
On the band 6 are a number of buttons 12, to which a childs drawers or skirts may be attached.
The straps 1 may be entirely or partly elastic in order that they may yield with the movement of the limbs and body.
WVith my improved combination supporter, each shoulder strap directly supports one stocking at the front and the other stocking from the rear, so that when either limb is extended, either forwardly or back, the support from the one strap is constant and the usual binding action obviated to a great extent. By attaching the waist band to the spaced straps at the rear, the body is freed from the binding pressure incident to a completely encircling band, as the shoulder straps may yield laterally when the waist band is pressed forwardly or to the side.
With my improved supporter, the drawers or skirts may be supported by the buttons on the waist band and the suspender tabs may be used to support a pair of trousers when the device is worn by a boy.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is In a combination garment and hose supporter, a pair of shoulder straps of equal length and having front and back portions, said back portions being crossed; clasps adjustably attached to the straps at the ends thereof, a waist band in two sections, each of said sections being secured at one end to one of said back strap portions at a point removed from said crossing and slidably connected with the front strap portions, the In testimony whereof I afliX my signature op gosite ends of said band being united by in presence of two Witnesses.
a Litton-hole connection; abreast stra J connecting the front strap portions and EMMA B holding the same at proper relative distance, Witnesses:
and tabs secured to the front and rear strap MYRTLE M. JACKSON,
portions adjacent the Waist band. 7 E. A. CAHILL.
