AUGUST GRADEL .AND GEORGE GRADEL, OF WEST HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY.
COMBINED HOLDER AND RECEPTACLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 2, 1910. Serial No. 570,117.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, AUGUST GRADEL and GEORGE GRADEL, both citizens of the United States, and residents of West Hoboken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Combined Holder and Receptacle, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
An object of the invention is to provide a combined holder and receptacle,,1: articularly adapted for use on gas stoves, the holder being required to hold the gas hose and the receptacles to conveniently hold matches.
For the purpose mentioned use is made of a body provided with a clamp, and receptacles removably secured to the body. Reference is to be had to the accompanymg drawings constituting a part 'of this specification, in which similar characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a gas stove with our device attached thereto; Fig. 2 is a plan view of our device secured to the pipe of a gas stove and holding the tube thereof; Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 in Fig. 2 ,1 Fig. 4 is a sectional view showing the clamped connection between the gas hose and the gas pipe; Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken on the line 55 in Fig. 3; and Fig. dis a sectional view taken on the line 6-6 in Fig. 3.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, a body 10 is provided, curved to form a trough and having at one end thereof a clamp 11 for securing the trough to the end of a pipe 12 of a gas stove 13. The trough or body 10 has its longitudinal edges preferably curved to form slides 14, as will be seen in Figs. 2 and 6, and receptacles 15 and 16 are provided and have turned edges 17 and 18 for removable engagement with the said slides 14. The clamp 11 is provided with an adjusting screw 19 and has a series of serrations 20 thereon constituting a roughened surface for conveniently sticking matches thereon.
To secure the holder to the pipe 12, the rubber end 21 of the gas tube 22 is first passed over the end of the gas pipe 12. The
holder is then disposed so that the tube 22 lies in the trough of the holder, and the clamp 11 is provided to secure the holder to the tube 22, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, thus also securing a firmer connection bet-ween the pipe 12 and the tube 22. The receptacle 16 is disposed on one side of the holder and adapted to contain matches therein, a hood 23 being provided on the receptacle 16 to protect the heads of the matches from any heat radiating from the stove. The receptacle 15, similar in construction to the receptacle 16 except for the hood 23, engages the other side of the body 10 and is adapted to contain the ends of matches used to llght the gas stove. If it is desired to dispense with one of the receptacles the same can be easily removed from the body.
Although we have shown a particular construction for the purpose of describing our device, it will be understood that the scope of our invention is defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A device of the class described, comprising a trough for connection with a pipe and adapted to receive an end of a tube therein, and receptacles slidably arranged on the trough one on each side of the said tube.
2. A device of the class described, comprising a trough for connection with a pipe and adapted to receive an end of a tube secured to the pipe, a serrated clamp for clamping the trough to the pipe, and receptacles slidably arranged on the trough one on each side of the said tube.
8. A device of the class described, comprising a body adapted to constitute a holder, slides formed on the holder, a serrated clamp for removable engagement with the holder, receptacles mounted to removably slide in the said slides, and a hood on one of the said receptacles, and adapted to partially close the same.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
AUGUST GRADEL. GEORGE GRADEL. lVitnesses:
F. A. Hosrun, PHILIP D. ROLLHAUS.
