To all whom concern Be it known that I, CO'NRAD HUBERT HEIN- RICH GLAESSEN, a subject of the King of Prussia, residlng at Berlin, Germairyr rhave invented new and useful NitrocelluloseGun powder; and I do hereby declare the follow;- 'ing to be a full, clear, and exactpleserip tio'n of the same;
'Heretofore it has been the practice to materials such as cam hor; diphenylamin-' or carbamid, to nit-roe lulosepowders an powders containing nitrocellulose and nitro-i glycerin, to lower the combustion temperature and also'to do away with the injurious effects which these explosives exert on the material ofthe barrel or bore, as .well as to regulate the relation between gas'pressure and initial velocity and to increase the stability of the powders.
My'exp'eriments have shown that all of, the above-mentioned purposes can be attained, and in a far greater degree, without impairing the ballisticqualities in powders,
'if fenchone is added thereto. The advantage arising'from the use of fenchone, in
place of the mentioned substances,'is that, in v itself, it furnishes an excellent gelatinizing material for nitrocellulose.
