To (di whom t may concern.'
Beit known that I, HEINRICH BRUNswIG, a subject of the Emperorf Germany, resid-l ing at Steglitz, near Berlin, Germany, have invented a new and useful Improvement in such a manner that an actual Wave of detonation proceeds at al uniform velocity along this fuse, and `Wherever the f'use is used 1nI this specification, this particular thing is lmeant. To start such a denonating fuse, the 20 general method of procedure -is to have a 4detonating cap in the end of the same which [starts the Wave of detonation along the detonatin fuse. This detonating fuse differs -from te ordinary powder fuse in that instead of having merely a burning material` in it, it isnecessary for lit to have a detonatthe action of the same.- This is, for instance,

ing material'throughout its length. 'I have discovered that the action of such detonating fuses is considerably increased if the 'fuse is detonated on opposite sides of the portion' thereof which is in contact with the explosive mass lto be detonated. vIn thisl case the vtwo the case When a detonating fuse l0() cm. in length is Wound aroundthe'explosive in such a manner that the center of the fuse, the

is in intimate contact vwith the explosive.- I .determined by tests' the increased initial effect-brought about under the preceding The substances to be detonated were pressed bodies made of trinitrotoluol o f a density of 1.6. 4Three series of tests yWere carried out with three different deto- OF WILMINGTON, DELAWARE, .A CORORA- speemeati'n or Leners Patent.
