VIOLIN-CASE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 25, 1910.
Application filed December 16, 1909. Serial No. 533,507.
I legs and music-holder, provided for the purpose, being foldable and capable of being stored in the case.
According to the present invention the music holder and the supporting legs are fitted in the case in such a manner that they can be pushed into and withdrawn from their respective compartments in the case without having to be disconnected therefrom. The arrangement is, moreover, such that no change from the ordinary appearance of the case is caused by the same.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 representing a front view of the opened case in position to .serve as a music stand, Fig. 2, a longitudinal section of the case in closed position, Fig. 3, a cross-section of the closed case along line II of Fig. 2, and Fig. 4, a view of the broad end of the case in closed position.
The supporting legs are arranged on the broad end of the case a. The two front legs I) are foldable and hingedly arranged, one at each end of a recess in the end wall of the case and adapted to be turned in folded condition into said recess, as shown in Fig. 4:. A rear leg 0 is provided which is fitted in a recess in the bottom of the case whence it can be extracted by pulling its projecting knob.
The music holder d is arranged in a manner similar to that of the back leg in the narrow end of the case and is adapted to be adjusted to the desired height and in a suitable slanting position. The holder itself is composed of foldable links which can be extended to suit the size of the music leaves.
A hook is arranged inside the case on which the violin, when not in use, can be suspended. The other arrangements of the case are the usual ones.
I claim The combination with an ordinary violin case, of foldable legs arranged in the broad end of the case and adapted to be extended so as to support the case in upright position, and a music holder composed of foldable links arranged in the narrow end of the case whence it can be drawn out and adjusted so as to enable the case to serve as music stand, substantially as set forth.
