FOOT-WARMING ATTACHMENT FOR ELECTROTHERMAL GARMENTS.

To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I, BURTON R. CHAnLEs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Portland, in the county of Multnoniah, State of Oregon, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Foot-Warming Attachments for Electrothermal Garments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings as constituting a part thereof.

This invention relates to robe-like garments electrically heated and designed for therapeutic purposes, and'the object of this invention is to provide, at the bottom of the garment, a slipper-like footwarming attachment, and which foot-piece is also electrically heated by wires electrically connelcfted with the wiring of the garment itse My invention has further for its purpose to so arrange the foot-piece that, when not in use, it may be folded against and se- 1 cured to the bottom of the garment, out of the way, as hereinafter set forth.

In the drawings: Figure 1 represents the lower portion of a robe-like garment adapted to be electrically heated; and Fig. 2 is a v larger sized sectional detail showing the particular construction of my foot-piece attachment.

The garment, a, is made with a wire lining adapte to be connected with an electric current, so as to constitute a resistant and heat-producing element, as common in this construction. A part of the wires are extended into my foot-piece attachment 1), which consists of a base strip or sole 0, to which are secured slipper-like uppers d, d, including side strips 0', 6. 6 the whole having the general appearance of slippers. The attachmentof the base strip or sole 0 to the bottom of the garment is done preferably by sewing, so as to provide a sort of hinge-joint adapted to permitthe foot-piece, when not to be used, to be turned up against the inside of the bottom of the garment, and there secured by a device like a glove-fastener, the twoparts of which are secured, at. f, f, on the sole 0 and the garment a, re ectively, as shown.

I claim:

1. The combination of an electrothermical garment provided with wires, of a foot piece hinged at or near the bottom of the garment the wires in the garment extending to and within the foot piece, the latter having uppers at the front end to form pockets for the' feet, an element of a fastening device secured to the foot piece, and a complemental fastening element secured to the garment, the hinge connection betweenthe garment and the foot piece permitting of the latter being folded up and against the former and held by the fastening elements.

2. The combination of an electrothermical garment provided with wires of a flexible foot piece hinged to the bottom of the garment, the wires in the garment ertending to and within the foot piece, said foot piece having a flexible middle partition, flexible sides, and flexible up ers at the front end to provide pockets or the feet, a fastening element secured to the foot piece, a complemental fastening element on the garment, the hinged connection between 7 the arment and foot piece permittin of the latter being folded and the partition sides and uppers collapsed against the garment and secured by the fastenin elements.
