Be it known that I, JOHN J. JACOBS, a citizen of the -United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State Vof New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Buckles or Elastic Links, of which the following is a back of lthe frame 1.
specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates especially to the construction and arrangement of buckles for belts and the like, and has for its object the provision of such buckle, wherein an elastic link is provided which will permit a material variation in the length of the belt while at all times maintaining the requisite tension to keep the belt in proper position.
To attain the desired end, my invention consists incertain novel and useful combinations or arrangements of parts, and peculiarities of construction and operation, all of which will be hereinafter first fully described` and then pointed out in the claims.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a belt buckle embodying my invern,- tion. When itis desired to use my device to take the place of elastic webbing in suspenders, and the like, the front partjof the buckle may be dispensed with, and the rear` portion of the mechanism as illustrated in Fig. 5 employed.
The modification of Fig. 6 shows a single spring and guide rod, and such construction does not depart from the spirit of my invention.
My device will be found admirably adapted to the uses and purposes for which it is intended, as it entirelydispenses with elastic webbing, which is liable to rapidly deteriorate with age and use, while possessing all the advantages of such webbing.
Having now fully described my invention, what 4l claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. An elastic link in which is comprised a front portion or frame having an opening, a closing for said opening secured to the back of the frame, a movable bar mounted at the rear of the frame upon suitable guide mechanism which is lixed to the frame, said guide mechanis1n,belt material secured to the frame at the end opposite tothe movable bar and loosely passing around said bar, `and spring mechanism engaging said bar and frame, substantially as shown and described.
