UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARY C. NINDE, 0F FORT WAYNE, INDIANA.
STRAP FOR SURGICAL IBANIDAGES, CORSETS, 8w.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY G. NINDE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Wayne, in the county of Allen and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Straps for Surgical Bandages, Corsets, &c., of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in straps for surgical bandages, corsets, etc., and the object is to provide a thigh strap made elastic so as to yield to the movements of the body, but so arranged that it will not chafe the skin.
With the above object in view the invention consists in the novel features of construction hereinafter fully described, particularly set forth in the claim, and clearly illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a view illustrating the strap in use in connection with a corset, and Fig. 2, an enlarged perspective view of the strap.
My improved strap consists of an elastic band 1 having attaching devices at its respective ends. I have illustrated an attaching-device at one end in the form of a loop 2 having a contracted portion 3, this device being adapted to engage a button or headed stud on the corset or bandage. At the opposite end, the attaching-device shown, is in the form of a spring-clasp i. I do not limit Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 22, 1909.
Patented Aug. 16, 1910.
Serial No. 524,007.
my invention to the form of attaching-devices shown, as any preferred attachingmeans may be employed.
Covering the elastic-band is a tube 5 of soft rubber which is secured to the elastic band at one end of the latter. The elastic band may be stretched so as to permit of attachment to the front and rear of the corset or bandage, it having free movement in the tubular rubber covering, being secured to the latter only at one end. At the same time the strap may readily yield to adapt itself to the movements of the body. The soft rubber covering-tube prevents drawing of the strap or chafing as the elastic-band yields to the movements of the wearer. i
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A thigh-strap for surgical bandages, corsets, etc., comprising an elastic band, attaching-devices carried by said band at its respective ends, and a soft-rubber tube surrounding said band and attached thereto at one end only.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
MARY C. NINDE.
