To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR J. DOsrnorrr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Long Key, in the county of Monroe and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a hose supporter which may be employed by men and women to maintain their hose in proper position.

lhe primary object of the invention is to provide a supporter for this purpose which when connected with the hose may be attached to an under, or outer garment as found desirable and-is so constructed that the various parts thereof may be renewed or repaired when the occasion requires.

Another object of the invention is to provide a supporter in which an elastic attaching strap has hingedly connected therewith a clasp support so shaped and reinforced, that the clasp carried thereby may be connected with thehose in such a manner that the strain imposed thereon and upon the supporter while in use will be equally distributed, thus preventing the hose from becoming damaged and the wearer of the supporter being rendered uncomfortable.

A still further object of the invention is to provide the supporter with a clasp support having a reinforcing member which insures the proper ventilation of the portion of the body underlying the clasp support when the supporter is in use.

With these and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.

The preferred embodiment of the invention has been illustrated in the accompanying drawing although no restriction is necessarily made tothe precise details of construction therein shown, as changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claims may be resorted to if desired.

responding parts throughout the various views in the drawing.

Referring now to the drawing in detail the letter A designates a hose supporter constructed in accordance with the invention and in which a substantially crescent shape clasp support 5 is formed from two pieces of suitable absorbent fabric stitched together along the marginal edges as shown and having arranged therebetween a flexible stiffening member 6. The stiffening memher 6 may be formed from any material which is impervious to moisture, such as celluloid or the like and has formed therein a plurality of ventilating openings 7. An eye 8 is formed by the stitching at each end of the clasp support 5 and has passed therethrough a link 9 from which is suspended a strap 10 of non-elastic material having mounted thereon a hose clasp 11.

Formed upon one side of the clasp support 5 between its ends by the stitching 6 is an eye 12 through which is passed a link 13 having connected therewith one end of an elastic strap 14, said strap being threaded through a link 15 and having its other end secured to a slide 16 movable longitudinally of the strap to permit the length of the strap 14C to be regulated. The link 15 has secured thereto a strip 17 upon which is mounted a clasp 18 by means of which the strap 14 and clasp support connected therewith may be attached to an under or outer garment as the occasion requires.

When it is desired to employ the improved hose support to maintain the hose in proper position the clasps 11 are connected with the hose and the clasp 18 secured to an under or outer garment as found desirable which permits the strap 14 to lie alongside of the limb and the clasp support which is arranged at right angles thereto to partially encircle the limb, so that any strain imposed thereon will be equally distributed to the hose connected therewith while the circulation of the blood in the limb upon which the hose is worn will not be interfered with.

Through the provision of a clasp support 12 formed from absorbent material and pro vided with a foraminous non-absorbent stifi ening member proper ventilation of the portion of the limb underlying the clasp support when the supporter is in use is insured.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it is at once apparent that a hose supporter has been provided which is simple in construction, inexpensive in manufacture and highly efficient for the purpose set forth.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is:

1. A hose supporter having a clasp support comprising a casing of absorbent material, and a foraminous stifi'ening member within said casing.

2. A hose supporter comprising a substantially crescent shaped and flexible clasp support and a stiffening member therein, links at the ends of said clasp support, hose clasps carried by said links, another link secured to one edge of the clasp support between its ends, an adjustable and elastic strap connected with the last mentioned link, and a clasp on said strap.
