BELT-SUPPORTING DEVICE FOR TROUSERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 10, 1909.
Patented Aug. 16, 1910.
Serial N o. 527,295.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jol-IN D. I-IoUGK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Supporting Devices for Trousers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specifin cation.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for attachment to .trousers for supporting body belts and consists of a simple and eflicient device of this nature comprising a plate having resilient arms with a space intervening, the plate being adapted to be held to the fly of the trousers and the tongue of the belt buckle engage the space intermediate the arms, spurs project-ing from the plate and adapted to support the latter.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view showing the application of the invention. Fig. 2 is a View showing the belt removed. Fig. 3 is a sectional view. Fig. t is an enlarged detail perspective view of the plate, and Fig. 5 is a detail view of a modifie form.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a plate of metal which has a cutfaway portion B and spurs C projecting therefrom and which are adapted to engage the inner face of the iiy of the trousers. Said plate is bent upon itself at D and is provided with two resilient arms F, each of which is outwardly bent as at G and is provided with a space K intermediate said arms. In the drawings I have illustrated a belt N having the usual buckle N at one end, the tongue O of which buckle is adapted to be positioned in the space intermediate said arms and the frame of the buckle positioned upon either side of the portion of the plate which is bent upon itself. The pin Q upon which the tongue O is mounted is positioned underneath the curved or humped portions of the arms, thus securely holding the buckle and belt in proper position about the waist band of the trousers. After the buckle has been adjusted in the position shown, the end of the strap to which the buckle is attached may be passed through the buckle and fastened in the usual manner.
In Fig. 5 of the drawings, I have shown a slight modification of the invention in which a single finger T of the buckle is provided instead of two, as shown in Fig. 4:, and said finger being provided with a single spur T and, in said inodiiied form, the finger is positioned along the central or median line of the plate, thus adapting itself to any form of fly to which it may be attached.
What I claim to be new is:-
A device for supporting belts, comprising a plate which is bent upon itself and adapted to engage about the edge of the fly of the trousers and provided withv two resilient arms spaced apart for the reception of the tongue of a buckle, each of said arms being outwardly bent to form a hump, and means for fastening the plate to the trousers. f
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
