LINE-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 26, 1910.
Application filed November 10, 1909. Serial No. 527,249.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALLEN HITT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gustine, in the county of Comanche and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Line-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to line holders for vehicles and has for an object to provide an article of this character which may be formed preferably from a single length of wire bent to provide dashboard engaging portions and rein receiving and retaining portions.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent as the nature ofthe invention is better disclosed and it will of course be understood that changes within the scope of the claim can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawing forming a portion of this specification, and in which like characters of reference indicate similar parts in the several views; Figure 1 is a front elevation of a portion of the dashboard of a vehicle showing my improved line holder operatively connected therewith. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the holder.
My improved line holder is formed as herein shown from a single length of wire which is bent to form a head member 1 which is provided with downwardly extending arms 2. The arms 2 are preferably disposed in parallel relation to each other and are bent to form spaced jaws or clamps 3 which are adapted to be engaged with the dashboard A as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing. The free extremities of the wire forming my improved holder are twisted around portions of the arms 2 as shown at 1 and from these points the said end portions of the wire are extended upwardly and outwardly to form spring aws 5. The jaws 5 are disposed in a plane approximately parallel to the head member 1 and are operatively positioned with respect thereto so as to efiectively receive the line and hold the same evenly against the head 1.
The device herein shown and described is extremely simple in construction, it may be manufactured at a comparatively low cost, and may be effectively applied to the dashboard of a vehicle and arranged in a conven ient manner to receive and retain the line to prevent the same from becoming misplaced or tangled in any part of the harness of an animal.
I claim A line holder formed from a single length of wire bent to form companion dashboard engaging clamps, the terminals of the said wire being extended upwardly from the clamps to form spaced clamping jaws, and a head formed intermediate of the length of the wire and arranged in juxtaposition with the jaws.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALLEN HITT.
