With these ends in view I have devised the novel reflector and means for attaching the same in place which I 'will now describe,

This attaching rim is formed from sheet metal to substantially the shape shown in 3 a similar view of the re ector' cross section in Fig. 2. In addition to the threaded sleeve there is a bottom wall 20 and an outer wall 21, the three walls comprising a substantially U-shaped ring in .cross section. The clrcular external rib 17 of the neck is received between the threaded sleeve and the outer wall of the attaching rlng, said circular rib fitting within the at taching ring loosely and the attaching ring is secured to the rib by closing the upper edge of outer wall 21 over the top of the --rib', as at 22 in Fig. l, leavingthe attaching rin free to rotate on the circular rib.
t is of course well understood that all standard electric lamp sockets are provided near the lamp receiving end with an external rib 23. This rib I utilize in attaching the adjustable reflector to the socket by means of a contractile collar 24 which is divided vertlcally across as at 25, is provided with an internal groove 26 to receive the rib on the socket shell and below the groove with a screw thread 27 which is adapted to be engaged by the threadedsleeve of the attachmg ring.
The operation will be obvious from the drawing. The attaching ring is' permanently attached to the neck, the neck and rin being adapted to rotate relatively to eac other and the neck is rigidly attached to the reflector. In attaching the reflector to a lamp, the contractile collar is placed on the socket, the collar readily springing to allow the rib on the socket to pass into the groove in the collar, and then the threaded sleeve of the att'achin ring is turned into engagement with the t read of the con tractile collar, thus firmly but detachably securing the adjustable reflector to the socket.
Having thus described my invention I claim:
1. A reflector having an opening for the passage of a lamp bulb, a neck having one end bent over into engagement with the edge of said opening, and an attaching ring for a lamp socket rotatably mounted on the other end of said neck.
2. A reflector having an opening for the passage of a lamp bulb, a neck having one end bent over into engagement with the edge of said opening, the other end of said neck being provided with a circular rib, and an attaching ring for a lamp socket rotatably mounted on said rib.
3.
