MATCH-BOX.

The Schedule. referred to in these Letters Patent and making part 0! the same,

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J OHN Bousrmnn, of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga, and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Match-Box or Holder; and I do hereby declare that the following-is a full andcomplete description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of the box and safe when used as a box.

This invention relates to the construction of a box, the same to be used for the package and transportation of matches, andinwhich to keep themwhile being in use, as a safe.

This box is made of st1'aw-board,-'or of any other material of asuitable nature, and which,'in shape, is

an oblong square, having the opening or top at A, fig. l, the depth being equal to the length of a match, for the holding of which it is especially intended.

The cover of said box is made by the continuation of one of its sides beyond the height of the box, as shown at B, fig. 2, forming a kind of lappel, O, which,

on being turned down, covers the top, and which is secured in place by inserting the upper or circulara package of matches which may be boxed up in quantities for transportation.

This box, when used as a match-safe, is opened as shown in fig. 2. The lappel or cover being raised, serves as a hanger, by which it may be hung against the wall by inserting the nail in the eyelet-hole'b, thus obtaining a neat and perfectly secure matchsafe at greatlyless expense than those in ordinary use. What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The box or holder described, provided with an adjustable lappel O, and sanded or roughened surface, being a new "article of manufacture, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
