WILLIAM T. HERNDON, OF LAURINBURG, NOR'I'H CAROLINA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALE TO FRANGI L. BUNBY, OF LAURINBURG, NORTH GAROLINA.
s'rERILIzER.
Specflcatioi o'f Letters Patent.
T o alt 'whom it may concer'n:
Be it known that I, lVILLz-ut T. HERNDON a ritizen ofthe United States, residing at Laurinlnrg, in the count of Scotland and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and 'useful Sterilizer, of which tl'e following is a specificat-ion.
This ivenition relates to sterilizing Cabivnets'ftn' doctors, dentists, barbers, eto., the
cabinet. constructed in aceordance With ny inventon. Fg. :Z is a transverse secton on the line of Fig. 1.
Referring to the. drawings, 16 denotes the cabinet of any size or style, provided With a pair of dra'wers 17. but it will be understood thattheir nnnber is innnterial.and may be va-ied as desired. The cabinet also contains-a dra'werilS in whieh' the sterilizing` is placed`A said drawer beingr nonted at the button of the cabinet so that V when said l'unes rise, they nay pass into the dran'e's 17, the latter being adapted to contain the instrunents to be sterilized.
In order t'o prevent the escape of the fnnes of the sterilizng substance when the drawe's 17 are open, the follo\\'in,r structure is provided: Each d'awer ]7 slpides beta-icen horizontal pa'titions lS) and 20. The drawer is open on top,`and is Closed by the partition JS). The drawer is also open at its' rear end, and the partitions 19 and 20 are connected at their real' ends by a. wall having a downwardly inclined portion 21 provided with an opening 22 controlled by a Valve 23 hingedat 24 to the inner end of lthe partiti-on 19. 'l`he free end of this Valve carries a weight which serves 'tonornally hold it in elosed position over the opening 22. From the face of the' Valve Projects a loop 26 Which' is engageabl'e by the laterally extending portion 27 of 'a steni 2,8 carried by and rising from the bottomgof the d'awer.
This stem is so located that thel or'tion 27 'thereof strikes-the loop 26 When t e drawer Patentea May 31, 1910.
is inclosed position, and thus lift-s the Valve of the opening 22., thereby permittin'g the funes from the sterilizing substance to enter the drawer. lVhen the drawer is pulled open, the portion 27 is withdrawn from the loop, whe'eupon the valve is released and drops down by gravity, it being .issited by the weight 25, and closes the opening 22,` thereby efi'ect'ually preventing the escape of fumes. The part 27 has a notch 29 entered by the loop 26 when the drawer isin closed position, Which serves as a catch for holding4 the drawer Closed.
VVhatis claimed is 1- 1. A sterilizing cabinet conprising a casing, a dra'wer therefor, a wall in the casing surrounding the drawe'r, said Wall 'having V 'an opening, avalve controlling said opening'` means for closing the v'alve when the drawe'r s open, a loop projectng from the Valve, a sten rising from the drawer, and a lateral projection of the stem .engageable with the loop for opening the Valve when the drawer is closed, said extension having a notch wl ich is engageable With the loop.
2. A sterilizing cabinet conprising a casing, a drawer therefor openvat its rear end,
'partit'ions in the casing between' Which the' drawer is slidably nounted, one of sa1d In -testinony that clairn the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signat-nre in the 'presence of two witnesses.
