v UNITED srATEs PATENT ,O IGE;
'MAx'w. rRAivzi-imnvi', or WHEELING, VIRGINIA.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MAY W. FRA ZHEIM,
acitizen of the United States, residing at with respect to the drain board, that the latter element, in addition to its usual functions, will prevent articles in the cabinet from falling accidentally into the sink.
Another object of the invention is so to construct the cabinet that the same, projecting rearwardly beyond the back, will carry the weight of the back, the sink and the drain board. 7
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the present invention appertains.
With the above and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation, parts being in section;
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the cabinet.
In carrying out the present invention there is provided a back 1 which may be equipped with a rearwardly extended flange 2. Projecting forwardly from the back 1 Y is a sink 3 which may be supported in part on legs 4. A drain board 5 extends between one end 6 of the sink, the forward wall of the sink and the back 1. Extended between the forward .wall of the sink, the bottom ll of the sink, the back 1 and the inner end of the drain board, is an endwall 7 which coacting with the end wall 8 defines V I specification of Letters Patent.

the compartment 9 of the sink. Below the drain board 5, the sink preferably is open as-shown at 10. The back 1 carries the usual cocks 12 discharging into the sihk.
Assembled with the back 1 and ordinarily formed integrally therewith is a rearwardly projecting cabinet 14 which may be provided with one or more shelves 15 adapted to receive'a-rticles used in or about a sink. Hinged as. at 17 to the back 1 is a door 16 which constitutes a closure for the lower side of the cabinet 14, any suitable mecha.-'
nism 18 being supplied, whereby the door 16mav beheld in a closed position. It is to be observed that, as indicated at, 20, the cabinet 14 projects rearwardly beyond the rear edge of the back 1.v The cabinet, therefore, is adapted to enter the plaster 19'or other support, and as a consequence, the 1 cabinet constitutes a means for sustaining the weight of the articles in the cabinet, the weight of the back l, the weight of the sink 3 and the weight of the drain board 5. The drain board 5 exercises a double function in that, in addition to its usual and well known function, it forms a shelf preventing the articles in thecabinet 14 from dropping accidentally into the sink 3 and being broken therein.
Preferably, all parts of the structure hereinbefore described, saving the door 16 and the legs 4, if the latter are used, are made integral, although this detail is not insisted upon. q
It is to be observed that the door 16.
sequence, articles in the compartment 9 of the sink will not be knocked over or injured when the door is swung to an open position.
is claimed is In adevice of the class described, a back; a sink projecting forwardly from the back;
a drain board projecting forwardly from the 100 back and discharging into one end of the sink; a cabinet projecting rearwardly from the back; and a horizontally swinging door for the cabinet, the drain board being located at a slight vertical distance below the 105 the door being substantially in vertical 110 swings above the drain board 5.
