To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SYLvANUs H. KEL- LOGG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Poison-Bottle, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to poison bottles which are equipped with a device for giving an alarm upon movement of the bottle.

One of the objects of this invention is to produce a poison bottle of the character described which has a closure means provided with a self-contained alarm.

Another object of this invention is to provide a poison bottle having a closure or cap therefor provided with a self-contained alarm in which the cap is so constructed that it also performs the function of holding the seal firmly upon the opening in the mouth of the bottle.

Another object of this invention is to produce a bottle of the character described in which the outer appearance of the bottle is not marred, the alarm being unexposed.

Other objects and advantages w1ll appear as hereinafter described.

Referring to the drawings :--Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view through the bottle. Fig. 2 is a plan View, partly broken away, of the cap or closure. Fig. 3 is an inverted plan view of the cap or closure. Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view of the cap.

1 represents a bottle provided witha neck 2 having a molded thread 3 thereon. Resting upon a shoulder 4 within the mouth 5 of the bottle is a flat circular cap or seal 6 of card board or other suitable material. Adapted to engage the thread 8 of the bottle neck is a screw cap or closure 7 of sheet metal which extends over the mouth of the bottle. On the underside of the cap 7 is a metal box 8 extending into the mounth 5 of the bottle. The box 8 is formed from a circular sheet of metal having radial cuts therein which permit the side walls 9 to be bent upwardly from the bottom 10, and then outwardly forming a flange 11 which rests against the under side of the cap 7. Lugs or extensions 12 of the side walls 9 pass through slots 13 in the cap 7 and are bent down upon the upper face of the cap 7, thereby securing the box 8 to the cap 7. Before securing the box 8 to the cap as above described, shot or balls 14 are placed within the box 8, in which they are free to move. When the cap 7 is screwed down over the mouth of the bottle the bottom of the box presses upon the seal 6 and holds it firmly in place upon the flange 4, thereby insuring a tight seal and preventing leakage of the contents of the bottle.

The construction as above set forth, in which the box containing the alarm is wholly within the bottle, produces a neat package and at the same time prevents damage to the alarm.

A bottle equipped with an alarm as above described would upon the movement occasioned by picking up the bottle produce a noise or rattle by reason of the balls within the metal box being free to move and strike the walls of the box. The noise occasioned thereby would immediately direct the holders attention to look at the bottle and ascertain thecontents thereof before using the same, thereby avoiding accident occasioned by using the contents of the wrong bottle.

WVhat I claim is 1. In combination, a bottle, a closure means therefor, a box upon the inner side gf said closure means, and balls within said 2. In combination, a bottle, and closure means therefor consisting of a screw cap, a box on the inner side of said cap, extensions on said box extending through said cap with their ends turned down on the upper face of said cap, and balls within said box.

3. In combination, a bottle, a circular flange in the mouth of said bottle, a cap resting on said flange, a closure means over the mouth of said bottle, an alarm box on the under side of said closure means resting on said cap, and balls within said box.

4. In combination, a bottle, a circular flange in the mouth of said bottle, a cap resting on said flange, a screw cap over the mouth of said bottle, a box on the under side of said screw cap, balls in said box, the under side of said box resting upon the upper face of said first named cap.
