Specification of Letters Patent.

Be it known that I, STANLEY G. WIsE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Gas City, in the county of Grant and State of Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Bottle, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The purpose of the invention is to provide a simple, durable, and economic construction of bottle whereby the bottle will be difficult to refill and if refilled the bottle can: not for a second time be presented as an original package without evidence that it has been tampered with.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a sectional side elevation of the improved bottle. Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan view of the bottom of the bottle removed from the body, and Fig. 3 is an edge view of the said bottom. Fig. 4 is a detail sectional view of the lower part of the bottle.

A represents the body of a bottle the neck 10 whereof is integral with the body, is usually made quite lengthy, and is sealed at the top in the process of constructing the bottle, as is shown at 11 in Fi 1. here the neck 10 connects with the iody of the bottle, a cork 12 is introduced into the said neck from the bottom portion of the bottle, which is open until the bottle has been filled with liquid. An annular groove 13 is produced eX- teriorly in the neck 10 at a oint near where the neck connects with the ody of'the bottle, as is also shown in Fig. 1, and the groove 13 is made deep enough to extend nearly through the said neck, so that when the bottle is to be opened it is simply necessary to break off the upper portion of the neck or that portion above the groove 13, and the stopper 12 will prevent any slivers of glass from entering the body portion of the bottle and will likewise serve as a temporary cork therefor.

An annular channel 14 is produced in the inner face of the body A of the bottle at its open bottom portion, and in the vertical wall of the said channel 14 series of spiral grooves 15 are produced, the grooves extending from the bottom edge of the said body at more or less of an inclination upward, so as to receive correspondinglyshaped segmental projections 16, formed on the peripheral surface of the bottom B of the said body, the projec-' tions 16 forming broken sections of a thread, so that the said bottom B can be quickly and securely screwed into the bottom portion of the body A, as is shown in Fig. 1. Just previous to screwing the bottom B into the body A of the bottle a cement of any suitable character may be applied to the segmental threads 16.

In the upper face of the bottom B at its margin an annular channel 17 is produced, forming an annular vertical wall or shoulder 17 which when the bottom B is in position in the bottom A extends up above the channel 14, formed in the body of the bottle, and the said shoulder 17 engages closely with the inner face of the body of the bottle. A washer 18 is placed in the said channel 17 to engage with the upper wall of the channel 14 in the body of the bottle when the bottom B is screwed to position in said body. This bottle of necessity is filled from the bottom prior'to said bottom B bein placed in position in the body, and after t e extended upper portion of the neck 10 has been broken OH to gain access to the contents of the bottle the bottle cannot be again used as an original package without the fact being made evident.

Having thus described my invention, I claim'as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A bottle having an integral neck closed at the top, and being open at the bottom, and provided with spiral grooves and with an annular shoulder above the grooves, and a bottom having segmental spiral ribs forming threads adapted to enter the grooves, said bottom resting upon the shoulder and having a flange received within the bottle above the shoulder.
