HUMIDOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 5, 1910.
Application filed May 10, 1909. Serial No. 495,079.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LAZAR KAHN, a citizen of the United States, and resident'ofi Shreveport, Louisiana, have invented. cortain new and useful Improvements in IIumidors, of which the following is a specification. 7
My invention humidor, and-has for its object to provide a water receptacle, electrically heated, adapted to be placed within a show-case or other receptacle for cigars, to moisten the cigars by means of the vapors generated from the Water.' a In the drawingsFi'gure l is a vertical view diametrically in section of the device of my invention. Fig. 2 is a to plan view of the lid, with the valve partia ly closed.
As illustrated in the drawings, I-employ a container 4 adapted to receive at its top a closure 5 which is provided at its center with the opening 6 to receive an electric lamp socket 8. The socket 8 is adapted to extend 1 downwardly through the opening 6 and to ,receive in its mouth the incandescent lamp 3. The closure 5 is provided with a number .of perforations 7 of various locations and diameters to permitthe free egress of the moisture generated by the water within the receptacle 4, the generation of which vapor is aided by theheat emitted from the lamp 3. Electric current is supplied to the lamp 3 by means of the wires 9+9, which are.
flexible andof any length desired to accommodate the location of the humidor at any one of a series of desired locations within a slfowrase or other receptacle for cigars.
The receptacle 4: may be constructed of any desired material, and when constructed of glass is adapted to be covered upon its vertical wall or walls witlf fanciful, pictorial or advertising devices, the illumination, of the receptacle by the lamp 3 enabling the jhumidor to be used as a means of decoration or advertisement in addition to forming its function as a humidor.
In that form of embodiment of my invention which is illustrated in the drawings, I
per-
relates to an improved have shown a receptacle 4 which is cylindrical 1n sectionand sci'ew-tln-caded, as indicated by the numcrahlO, Circlnn't'eren-' tially about its mouth, to engage with the screw-threaded. flange 11 with which the closure 5 is provided. I
Superimposed upon the closure I provide-a circular valve 12 provided with perforations 13, which perforations 1-?) register transparent liquid receptacle; an in andescent electric lamp mounted in the said receptacle; a perforated closure for said receptacle; and a circular valve revolubly mounted above said perforated closure and provided with perforations registering with the perforations in said closure, sl'ibstantially as described. i
3. An improvedhuniidor comprising atransparentcylindrical liquid receptacle; an incandescent electr1c lamp suspended .ccn-
trally in said receptacle; a. perforated closure for said receptacleextending around and supporting said lamp and a c1rcular valve provided with perforations mounted upon said closure and revoluble around the lamp,
'its perforations registering with the perforations of the closure for regulating the escape of vapor, substantlally as described.
In testimonywhereof, I have signed my name to this specification, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
