AUGUST HEINRICH DAVIDS, OF HAMBURG, GERMANY.
DISINFECTING APPARATUS.
Application filed November 27, 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST I-IEINRIGH DAVIDS, a subject of the Emperor of Ger many, residing at Hamburg, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Disinfecting Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to disinfecting apparatus, perfumer, exhaler, etc., and has for its object a simple and cheap construction, easily controlled and very effective and consists primarily of an inverted receptacle containing a disinfecting solution, perfume or exhaling fluid, etc., and so disposed over a cup that the flow of the material is limited so that only a small amount is presented to the atmosphere for evaporation as will be more fully described in the following specification, set forth in the claim and illustrated in the drawings, where:
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the apparatus partly broken away to show its interior. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of a modified form. Fig. 3 is a plan view of same. Fig. i is a sectional view of a simple form of receptacle holder. Fig. 5 is a front view of same.
In the form of the device shown in Fig. 1 a case 10 is provided with a front wall 11 short enough to leave an. open space 12 at the upper front of the box and this wall is mounted on a sliding base 13 with tongues let at each side to its corresponding grooves in the lower wall of the case. The base 13 is thus removable and carrles with it the wall 11 when it is necessary to replenish the -justment to secure receptacle 15 or for any other purpose that may be desired.
The receptacle 15 consists of a glass tube vertically suspended within the case by means of the spring fingers 16 which are secured to the wall 11 at any desired height. The lower end 17 of the tube is inserted in a cup 18 just far enough away from the bottom to allow a certain amount of the liquid to pass outward and the manner in which the tube is handled readily permits its adthe proper flow, but if of liquid may be shutoff the neck of the recepthe bottom of the necessary the flow entirely by bringing tacle in close proximity to cup.
Specification of Letters Patent.
l l l Patented June 13, 1911.
Serial No. 530,144.
Besides the opening 12 the case 10 may be provided at its sides with openings 19 which may be made a decorative feature or the case may be a box of perforated metal or wire cloth 2O sliding in guide ways 21 for the purpose of removing same as shown in Fig. 2 where a bottle 22 is employed to contain the liquid and a cup 23 is used and has a threaded stem 24 by which it is adjusted in a socket 25 secured to the base 26. The cup has a flat bottom and its sides form an obtuse angle with the bottom, so that the surface of the evaporating fluid will become larger as the supply. The bottle in this case is suspended by means of the spring fingers 16 attached to the rear wall of the device. I In case that it is deemed necessary to "carry the bottle from a base and dispense with a casing, a stand 27 such as shown in Figs. 4 and 5 is employed and is provided at its upper end with the spring arms 28 which are adapted to hold the bottle or tube while the overflow is caught in the bottom 29 of this stand.
hen it is desired to fill the device, the bottle or tube is held in its upright position and when it has received its contents, it is inserted in the spring fingers and its mouth placed in close proximity to the cup and the whole device is then reversed.
It is obvious that other details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the essential features above described.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a disinfectant device, the combination with a vertically arranged perforated box, of a sliding bottom for same, a front secured to the sliding bottom, a cup on the bottom, spring members disposed above the cup and an inverted container for the liquid carried by the spring members and adapted to have its lower end adjusted in the cup.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
AUGUST HEINRICH DAVIDS.
