AUGUSTIN US ANTONIUS HUBERTUS .HAMER, OF AMSTERDAM,
NETHERLANDS.
AsEPTlo-NAPKIN RECEPTACLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 764,188, dated July 5, 1904.
Application filed February 1l, 1904. Serial No. 193,102. (No model.)
[o roll whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUsTINUs ANToNrUs HTmER'rUs HAMER, a subject of the Queen of the Netherlands, residing at Amsterdam,Neth erlands, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Aseptic-Napkin Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an apparatus for the reception and supply of aseptic sheets or napkins as used by dentists, oculists, surgeons, and others. Hitherto such napkins have been kept in an ordinary box accessible to dust and other impurities, and though they may be sterilized there is no security at all that the dentist or his assistant when taking a napkin with a hand more or less unclean does not in the same time infect the other napkins.
As it is a duty of every conscientious dentist or other practitioner to have aseptic napkins always at hand and to destroy them after use, it is of the greatest importance to be in possession of an apparatus from which he can take as often as he requires a fresh napkin without touching the others with his fingers.
My present invention relates to an apparatus of this character; and it consists of a box adapted to be hung upon a Wall or other support. The napkins are folded and put together in the well-known manner of toiletpaper and after having been sterilized a certain number is packed into a cardboard box. This box containing the napkins is then put into the aforesaid box, the bottom of same, as well as of the cardboard box, being provided with a slit, through which the articles can be drawn as required. A part of the undermost napkin is passed through the slit. When this napkin is drawn out, a part of the next napkin appears in position without it having been touched by hand.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section, Fig. 2 a front view, and Fig. 3 a horizontal section, through the apparatus.
The box a is provided Witha top lid or cover I; and a bottom cover c, which can both turn on hinges d. Above the bottom cover a fixed bottom e is arranged, which is provided with a slit f.
In Fig. 1 the manner in which the napkins g are folded and put together is shown, the undermost napkin. partly hanging down through the slit f in the bottom e.
The napkins are packed in a cardboard box L, the bottom of Which is provided with a slit i'. The box 7L is introduced through the top of the receptacle a after opening the lid The bottom cover c is closed by a spring or other catch lo, so that it can be opened and closed easily With one hand. Full packets L, which must be kept in stock, are entirely closed, the slit c' in the bottom being pasted over with apiece of paper. Before the packet is put vinto the box this paper is torn off and the iirst napkin is partly Withdrawn. The bottom cover c being open, the napkin will then hang through the slit f underneath the box ready for use, Fig. 1. r
The use of this receptacle not only secures absolute cleanness and aseptic qualities of the napkins, but also a considerable saving of time. v
l/Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An aseptic-napkin receptacle comprising a series of folded napkins the end of one napkin lying between the fold of the next, a closed casing for same having a bottom slit extending across the casing, an outer receptacle for the casing having hinged top and bottom covers, and a fixed bottom With a slit extending across the same, said slit being in alinement with the slit in the casing, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
AUGUSTINUS ANTONIUS HUBERTUS HAMER.
