While it is intended that this display package may contain various articles of manufacture. such articles for purposes of clarity will herein be referred to as medicinal tablets. It is known that tablets have been wrapped in regenerated cellulose containers and it is also known to pro- Vide a string of tablets contained in a regenerated cellulose tube with the walls of the tube caused to adhere at spaced points to provide pockets for the tablets with the tube severable at the wall connected points for the dispensing of a single tablet.

An object of this invention is to confine the a tablets or the like in regenerated cellulose wraphaving an elongated window opening therein overlying the depressed channel in the body portion for the display of the tablets and also to provide clearance for the upwardly projecting J portion of the tablet to permit the cover to be quite tightly closedvupon the body portion.

It is a further obj ect of the invention to provide a display package of the foregoing character wherein the regenerated cellulose wrapped tablets are arranged in pairs, the regenerated cellulose wrapper being closed at its ends and having an intermediate contacting portion providing two compartments while the display package has a. pair of spaced longitudinally extending depressed channels for the respective reception of the tablets with the intermediate portion of the regenerated cellulose wrapper adhesively or otherwise secured to the intermediate portion of the body portion, the intermediate portion of \50 the regenerated cellulose wrapper being weakl ened to facilitate tearing while the hinged cover `for the body portion has a pair of window openings respectively overlying the depressed channel. l

With the above and other objects in view that (Cl. E-#8) will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

The display package as shown more clearly in Figs. 4 and 5 and designated inV general by the reference character I0 is illustrated as of rectangular form; although the same may assume any shape desired and includes a body portion l I having a pair oi spaced longitudinaly extending depressed pockets or channels I2 spaced from the ends of the body portion and providing an intermediate wall I3 and outer border walls I4. The cover I5 is connected to the body portion II by means of a iiexible hinge I6 and said cover has a pair of spaced longitudinally'extending window openings I 1 of the same dimensions as the pockets I2 that register with the pockets when the cover is in closed position as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 6. The window openings I1 are separated by an intermediate wall IB and outer lateral walls I9 that respectively overlie the walls I3 and I4 of the body portion II when the cover is in closed position as shown in Figure 6.

The tablets 20 are preferably arranged in pairs and are contained in regenerated cellulose wrapper or tube, the regenerated cellulose tube having the end portions 2| and the intermediate portion 22 moved into contact and adhesively or otherwise retained to provide spaced compartments 23 to contain the tablets 20. As shown in Cil detail in Fig. 3, the intermediate portion 22 of the regenerated cellulose tube is slotted as at 24 inwardly from opposite side edges to provide a weakened tearing line.

The regenerated cellulose tubes carrying the tablets are assembled in the display package by having the intermediate portions 22 overlying the intermediate wall I3, separating the depressed pockets I2 and adhesively or otherwise retained in engagement with the intermediate wallv I3, the compartments 23 respectively extending into the ldepressed pockets I2 while the outer end portions 2i oi' the regenerated cellulose tube overlie the outer lateral walls Il oi' the body portion as shown in Figs. 4 and 6. The tablets 20 are of a size when placed in the depressed pockets I2 to project upwardly above the upper plane of the body portion II and extend upwardly into the window openings I1 of the cover I5 when the latter is in closed position as shown in Figs. 1 and 6. The contents of the package are readily displayed through the window openings I1 as shown in Figure 1, and of course, the outer face of the cover I5 may carry any suitable advertising information desired. To remove a tablet from the display package, the cover I5 is rst opened and the thumb nail of one hand may be engaged with the weakened slotted tearing line 24 of the regenerated cellulose tube and either 'compartment 23 of the tube readily removed from the package by pulling force sufficient to overcome the adhesive retention of the tube in the package.

From the above detailed description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent and while there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

I claim:-

l. A display package, comprising a body portion having a pair of spaced longitudinally extending pockets therein defining an intennediate wall, a hinged cover having a pair of window openings to respectively overlie the pockets and a plurality of regenerated-cellulose tubes having the ends and intermediate portions contacting to provide a pair of article containing compartments with the compartments respectively seated in the pockets and with the intermediate portions of the tubes anchored to the intermediate wall.

2. In a display package, comprising a body portion having a pair of spaced longitudinally extending pockets therein dening an intermediate wall. a hinged cover having a pair of window openings to respectively overlie the pockets and a plurality. of regenerated cellulose tubes having the ends and intermediate portions contacting to provide a pair ot article containing compartments with the compartments respectively seated in the pockets and with the intermediate portions oi.' the tubes anchored to the intermediate wall. and said pockets extending upwardly into the window openings.

3. A display package, comprising a body portion having a pair of spaced longitudinally extending pockets therein defining an intermediate wall, a hinged cover having a pair of window openings to respectively overlie the pockets and a plurality of regenerated cellulose tubes having the ends and intermediate portions contacting to provide a pair of article containing compartments with the compartments respectively seated in the pockets and with the intermediate portions of the tubes anchored to the intermediate wall, the intermediate portions oir the tubes having weakened tearing lines to facilitate removal of a compartment from the pocket and package.

A display package, comprising a body portion having a pair of spaced longitudinally extending pockets therein deiining an intermediate wall, a hinged cover having a pair of Window openings to respectively overlie the pockets and a plurality of regenerated cellulose tubes having the ends and intermediate portions contacting to provide a pair of article containing compartments with the compartments respectively seated in the pockets and with the intermediate portions of the tubes anchored to the intermediate wall, and said pockets extending upwardly into the window openings, the intermediate portions of the tubes having weakened tearing lines to facilitate removal of a compartment from the pocket and package.

5. A display package comprising a body portion having longitudinally extending pockets therein deiining intermediate walls between such pockets, a hinged cover having a pair of window openings to respectively overlie the pockets, and a plurality of regenerated cellulose tubes having the ends and intermediate portions contacting to provide a plurality of article-containing compartments with the compartments respectively seated in the pockets, and with the intermediate portions of the tubes anchored to the intermediate walls.
